I will use this page as the place to store documents that I develop in connection with the CIPS Body of Knowledge effort, and such other documents, or pointers thereto, as may seem important to me.The material available here has not in general been reviewed or approved by the CIPS BOK Committee. This is a personal page which may be of some value to the Committee, but should in no way be construed as expressing Committee views.

CIPS needs a BOK that will be useful in the development and delivery of certification programs for business-focused IT Professionals. Such a certification would be a way to provide an important and potentially valuable service to the Canadian market. It's also important because the International IT Professional certification effort requires a more meaningful BOK that CIPS has thus far developed.

1. The CIPS Core BOK - If the Core BOK is to be the intersection of the BOKs appropriate to all computing professionals, then it's likely to be nearly empty.

2. Basic BOK Defintions - This is my effort to provide solid defintions of basic terms.

3. View of BOK Knowledge Areas - This is my view of how the Knowledge Areas for the business-focused IT Professional BOK could be structured.

Australian Computer Society CBOK - There is a draft for a more complete version, but it has yet to be posted. This is the version as of 2010.05.01.

Software Engineering BOK (SWEBOK) - This is the IEEE-Computer Society's body of knowledge for software engineering. It's in the process of being refreshed, but this is the current version (as of 2010.05.01).

Computing Curricula 2005 - This is the influential joint ACM and IEEE-CS study of undergraduate degree programs in the computing field.

Current CIPS BOK - There's not much here - the content can be reformatted to a two page version (with no loss of content).

Over time I will be adding to this BOK Matters list as I write more documents and continue to find other documents that seem to me to be relevant.
